Election Slate

Bridget Begley – Bridget has lived, worked, and taken an active interest in her Lake View community for 14 years. For the past five years she has organized ELVN’s annual pre-Thanksgiving food drive in support of the Lake View Pantry. Bridget spends many hours supporting our Oktoberfest through ticket sales and collecting donations for the silent auction. In her spare time, she substitute teaches and tutors.

Susan Hagan – Susan has served on the ELVN board for 13 of the 30 years she has lived in Lakeview. She is the ELVN delegate to the 44th Ward Community Directed Development Council (CDDC), and serves both as Lake View Citizens Council (LVCC) Member-at-Large and on the LVCC Executive Board.  Susan is immediate past Treasurer of LVCC. While on the 44th Ward’s Master Plan Task Force, she served as Chair of the Residential Committee. A Realtor with Coldwell Banker, Susan is a member of the Lakeview and East Lakeview Chambers, and the Central Lakeview Merchants’ Association (CLMA). Susan was a Charter Member and past VP of Lake View’s first Rotary Club.

Bruce Handler – Bruce moved to Lake View in 2002 after he retired from practicing cardiology in Champaign. Currently an instructor at the Cook County Sheriff’s Training Academy, he trains Illinois law enforcement, including the Chicago Police Department. He is also collaborating on research regarding police response to persons in crisis with the University of Illinois Chicago, Jane Addams School of Social Work. Bruce serves as the board president of his condominium association. His wife, Nora, served on the ELVN board for several years.

Beth Murphy – Beth has lived, worked, and owned property in East Lake View for over 30 years, where she has demonstrated a strong commitment to enhancing the community’s quality of life. Her businesses, Murphy’s Bleachers and Murphy’s Rooftop Co., have actively supported ELVN for over 19 years. Beth has served on the ELVN board since 2003, as well as being an active member of the LVCC Board. Her support of ELVN’s annual Oktoberfest has allowed us to raise more than $100,000 for local charities over the past eight years.

Jean O’Neill – A founding member of ELVN, Jean has served on the Board since its inception and remembers struggles with slumlords, gangs, and graffiti. Jean spearheaded efforts to bring a new Greeley School to the neighborhood and supported beautification of Gill Park. Jean has been a resident and property owner in East Lake View since 1971, when the Chicago Bears were playing football at Wrigley Field.

Marty Wallace – Marty has lived in East Lake View since 1976, where he has successfully worked as a broker with Koenig & Strey Realtors. Marty works hard securing donations and selling tickets for ELVN’s annual Oktoberfest. Born and raised in Chicago, Marty also enjoys attending Cubs games and walking our beautiful lakefront with his wife, Diane.
