Dear Friends and Neighbors,

East Lake View Neighbors will host a forum for Illinois House 12th District Candidates on March 3, 2020 at 7:00 at Horace Greeley Elementary School. Dorothy Tucker of CBS 2 Chicago will moderate the forum. Full details are below.

Community Alert: Residential Burglary — 19th District

About the Crime:

This alert gives notice to residents in the 19 th District of recent residential burglaries. In these incidents, the offender(s) made entry in the residence after they forced open the front and rear doors. The offender(s) then removed property from the homes and fled. In one incident, the offenders forced open a window to make entry.

Incident Times and Locations:

  • 3700 block of North Sheffield Ave on Feb. 1, 2020 between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
  • 900 block of West Oakdale Ave between Feb. 1, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. and Feb. 3, 2020 at 9:00 a.m.
  • 700 block of West Belmont Ave on Feb 3, 2020 between 7:38 a.m. and 6:55 p.m.
  • 900 block of West Altgeld St. on Feb 3, 2020 at 1:24 p.m.
  • 800 block of West Buckingham Pl on Feb 3, 2020 between 8:50 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
  • 3900 block of North Janssen Ave on Feb 3, 2020 between 2:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.
  • 1000 block of West Leland Ave on Feb 7, 2020 between 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

About the Offender:

African-American male(s) wearing dark clothing, gloves and facemasks or scarves

What you can do:

  • Be aware of these crimes and alert other family and friends who live in the area.
  • Ensure your doors and windows are secure at all times.
  • If you have suspicious activity captured on video surveillance footage alert Police.
  • Pay special attention to suspicious individuals in the area and alert the Police.
  • Call 911 immediately if you are a victim or witness to a crime and provide a detailed description of the offender(s) including any vehicle description and license plate information.
