Beat 25 Crime Update
CAPS officers will report on the number of armed robberies, burglaries, retail thefts, and carjackings committed in our neighborhood since our last meeting two months ago. This will include the May 6th armed robbery on W. Aldine; the May 10th armed robbery on W. Cornelia; and the attempted armed robbery at the convenience store at The New York (Waveland and Pine Grove).
Note: As reported at our last meeting, from 2.8.2022 to 4.11.2022 Beat 1925 had five armed robberies, three burglaries, 62 retail thefts, and zero carjackings.
Arrests/Investigations (Detective Bureau, Area 3).
Significant arrests and ongoing investigations in Beat 1925 over last two months, including the arrest of Tyshon Brownlee, 19, for the gruesome May 6 shooting of a culinary student at Wayne and Webster.
Police actions to address local crime
Ald. Tunney says 19th District Comdr. Amin Jassani has promised that “additional resources will be deployed.” Discuss how these “mission teams” work and whether their evidence-gathering duties include crime prevention and fear reduction efforts.
