With Chicago Public Schools (CPS) students continuing to learn virtually, it is critical to build at-home libraries to increase independent reading time, especially in homes with limited financial resources.

To support students in Lakeview-area CPS schools, the Chicago Cubs and Cubs Charities are hosting a drive-in book drive for community members to drop off new and gently used books in the Toyota Prius Lot from noon to 3 p.m. CST Saturday, November 7. Books should be appropriate for students from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade, including books suitable for primary grades, novels appropriate for middle school and books in Spanish for elementary school students. Please note community members will not need to leave their cars to donate books in the Toyota Prius Lot, located across from the Cubs’ front office building on Waveland Avenue.

If you can’t make it to the drive, the Cubs Store at Gallagher Way will accept book donations between Friday, October 30, through Sunday, November 15. The Cubs Store is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. CST. Members of the community who donate books at the Book Drive or the Cubs Store at Gallagher will receive a 20% discount to redeem at the Cubs Store at Gallagher Way.
