Are you worried about crime in Lakeview?  Do you want to see more cops walking the beat on Broadway, Southport, or Lawrence?   What about police treatment of residents of color?   Are you looking for quicker police response times and elimination of catalytic converter rip-offs, carjackings, and armed robberies?  How is the CPD’s federal consent decree affecting Lakeview?

Then you need to meet the six candidates vying for the brand-new position of Police District Representative in our 19th Police District:

  • Maurilio Garcia
  • Julie Kaviar
  • Demerike Palecek
  • Dan Richman
  • Jenny Schaffer
  • Sam Schoenburg

Who are they? What are their backgrounds?  What exactly do they propose to do?

The three independent representatives, to be elected—for the first time ever—on February 28th, will be charged with building stronger connections between our community and our police.  They’ll hold meetings on local police strategies and practices.  They’ll sit down with organizations, individuals, and police officials in Lakeview’s 19th Police District.  And they’ll help to make sure our people and our police are working as one to make Lakeview safer for everyone.

It is a new and powerful way to make your voice heard on the essential issue of public safety in Lakeview.

Everyone is urged to grab a cup of coffee, glass of wine, or a cold beer and sit in on our forum.  SEE YOU THEN!
