ELVN Mourns the Loss of Beth Murphy
East Lake View Neighbors mourns the loss of our own Beth Murphy. We send our heartfelt prayers and condolences to the Murphy family.
Beth was a former President of ELVN, eventually becoming the first recipient of ELVN’s annual Neighbor of the Year Award. Her abundant generosity to ELVN and to the Lakeview community cannot be overstated. From sponsoring the annual ELVN Oktoberfest fundraiser for decades to her countless anonymous random acts of kindness great and small, Beth was a selfless force of life.
Beth was the true meaning of community — working with friends, family, neighbors, and visitors to make Wrigleyville a beautiful place to be. As the community thrived, Beth was at the forefront not only to remind us of our historic past but also to guide us into the future. And all the while she gave us a place to go where everybody knows your name.
Rest in peace, Beth. We will always remember you.
