Meet the 2012 East Lake View Neighbors Slated Board Candidates
Paul Bauch is attorney for several of the rooftop organizations and lives in the 3600 block of North Sheffield. He regularly attends CAPS meetings for Beat 2324.
DeRondal O. Bevly works in community affairs for a Chicago public relations firm. He sits on the Local School Council of Horace Greeley Elementary, and has helped as a pantry partner and in fundraising for the Lakeview Pantry. For the eight years he has lived in East Lakeview, DeRondal has run along nearby Lake Michigan paths to unwind and train for marathons.
Julian Green recently became the Chicago Cubs Vice President of Communications and Community Affairs, He is responsible for directing corporate and non-baseball communications for the Cubs, and assists with improving visibility of the Cubs community, neighborhood, and non-baseball related programs in the city. Green formerly served as the director of communications and marketing for the Chicago Park District, and as press secretary for then United States Senator Barack Obama. He was also former chairman of the Support Group Foundation, and helped produce the Chicagoland All Star Classic.
Amy Karatz has served on the ELVN board, most recently as president, for twelve of the 15 years she has lived in Lakeview. From her condo association’s prize-winning gardens to her involvement in art for the 44th Ward and the new 23rd District Police Station, Amy is interested in community efforts to beautify the neighborhood. Amy’s goal is to help the neighborhood progress without sacrificing its unique Chicago character.
Terie Kata has been active as a board member of ELVN since 1991, serving as Chair for five years and Treasurer for eight years. Terie and co-chair James Murphy raised ELVN fund-raising to new highs in attendance and profits at our annual Oktoberfests. She is an active member of numerous community and business organizations. Terie chairs our fund-raising events.
Chester Kropidlowski is an Illinois Registered Professional Engineer, retired from 32 years with the Chicago Dept. of Transportation. His career duties included Lake View traffic and parking issues, and managing the night baseball Neighborhood Protection Program. Chester has worked as a traffic consultant for both the City and the Cubs regarding the Wrigley Field program. He has lived in East Lake View since 1991 and has been a board member for eleven years.
Kallan Miller has been a Lakeview resident since 2005. As condo board President, she has organized bi-annual neighborhood clean-up days, promoted safety groups, and co-founded HalstedNeighbors.org. Kallan will use her experience as a marketing manager to help promote ELVN, increase membership, and encourage community participation.
Tiffany Moy is a DePaul graduate, where she remains an active alumnus. She currently works for 12th District State Rep. Sara Feigenholtz, serving as a liaison to Lakeview and Lincoln Park residents and community organizations. Tiffany has lived in East Lakeview for 2 years and is looking forward to calling this community home for many more to come.
Tom Rothschild has called East Lakeview home for 18 of the 20 years he has lived in Chicago. Currently the Treasurer of his condo association, Tom has been active on the board of every building in which he has lived. His work with the condo board has led him to form relationships with Alderman Tunney’s office, specifically with the Director of Infrastructure Development. Tom works as a Project Leader/Systems Administrator for a multinational software company.
Jim Spencer has owned an apartment building and been active in East Lakeview since 1996. With his wife Maureen, Jim moved to Wilton Avenue in 2003. In addition to neighborhood activities, Jim serves on the Advisory Board of Catholic Charities.
Dafna Stempel has owned a home just steps from Wrigley Field for six out of the seven years she has lived in Lakeview. She has been an ELVN board member for two years and is greatly interested in helping make the community a better place for its residents. Dafna is looking forward to working on projects that benefit the community as a whole.
